Our
International
Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC),
Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC) and
Breastfeeding
Educators are experienced, highly trained professionals, who
specialize in working with health care providers to assist nursing
mothers and their babies.

been providing personal services in the
hospital, home or in our office
since August,1988.
Sharon Birdseye, RN, IBCLC, RLC
Sharon
has been providing lactation services as a board certified lactation consultant for
20 years.
She opened Lactation Consultants of
Atlanta in 1988.
A
mother of 3 breastfed boys, she
graduated from Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing;
attended
Kennesaw
University’s Nursing Program and has worked as a registered nurse since
1968, including 12 years in
Labor and Delivery/OB Education. She was a La Leche League Leader for 13 years
including 8 years as
an Area Professional Liaison before retiring to focus on
her private practice.
She
certified as an IBCLC Lactation Consultant in 1987 and has successfully
recertified by education hours in 1992, re-exam in 1997,
education hours in 2002, and re-exam in 2007.
She
has also lectured for Emory School of
Nursing’s Midwifery Program, SELCA, La
Leche League and Children’s Hospital
of
Atlanta and has published articles on breastfeeding.
She
is a founding member and past president of the Southeastern
Lactation Consultants Association (SELCA) and a member of the
International Lactation Consultants Association (ILCA)
Kathy Sasser; IBCLC, RLC

Kathy Sasser has
been supporting breastfeeding mothers since 2006, initially as a
community based counselor, then as an IBCLC after earning board
certification in 2010.
Before entering clinical practice, she spent
more than a decade in community education, teaching in both
non-profit and government settings.
Having worked with a diversity of mothers, Kathy believes
that each mother and baby pair are unique, bringing to the nursing
relationship individual goals, values and challenges.
She strives to bring a
respect for these differences as well as a strong clinical practice
to her work with mothers and babies.
Kathy graduated Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta
Kappa from the
University
of Georgia,
earning both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees.
She is a member of SELCA, USLCA, and ILCA and serves on the
boards of both SELCA and a major state breastfeeding non-profit.
She is the mother of two breastfed boys who have since moved
on to the exciting worlds of bugs, mud, and pirates.
